Alma Spencer Elliott, a cherished member of the South Boston, VA community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Semora, North Carolina, Alma's life was a testament to her dedication to family, community, and faith.
Alma attended Cluster Springs High School before embarking on a dedicated career. She first worked as a candy dipper at Russell Stover Candies and later contributed her skills as a packer at O'Sullivans. Her work was characterized by a strong work ethic and an amiable spirit that endeared her to all her colleagues.
As a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church, Alma was a faithful choir singer, offering her voice to honor the faith that guided her throughout her life. She was more than just a congregant; she was a beloved friend to many, always ready with a warm smile and kind word.
Alma had a passion for nurturing both her garden and her family. She found immense joy in cooking and was known for hosting traditional Sunday suppers, a special time filled with laughter, love, and delicious food. Her porch was a place of solace where she would enjoy the beauty of her flowers and the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her loving children, Ronnie Elliott (Deborah), Ricky Dean Elliott (Lorie McMann), and Robin Darrell Elliott. Alma's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Rodney Elliott (Beverly), April Myers (Brad), Nicholas Elliott (Brandy), Zachary Elliott, and Ryan Elliott (Abby), as well as her seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cherished siblings, Grady Spencer (Jane) and Judy Spencer Martin.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Stover Elliott, her parents, Thomas Butler Spencer and Rowena Lowery Spencer, and her siblings Victoria Lowery, Mozell Chappell, John Thomas Spencer, Henry Spencer, and Harvey Spencer Sr.
A funeral service to honor Alma's life will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, with visitation beginning an hour prior. Following the service, Alma will be laid to rest at Mt. Cana Church Cemetery.
