Alvah Lee “Maverick” Vaughan, 88 died peacefully in his home in Buffalo Junction, VA on February 12, 2026.
He was born in Granville County, NC on January 9, 1938 to Alonza “Ben” Vaughan and Hester Mangum Vaughan. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vivian Milton Vaughan, his daughter, Debra Vaughan Edwards and son, Wayne Lee Vaughan (Kathy) and his grandchildren, Ian LaGasa, Cheyenne Edwards and Monica Vaughan (Derek.)
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Floyd Vaughan and his 2 sisters, Peggy Currin & Rowena Frazier.
Alvah was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, loved being at home on his farm or hunting. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country proudly for 2 years in Korea. He retired from Burlington Industries and spent the rest of the time on the farm.

A celebration of Alvah's life will be held on Saturday February 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery.
