Ayward Hearl Oxley

Clarksville, Virginia - Mr. Ayward Hearl Oxley, husband of Naomi Church Oxley, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the age of 86. He was born in Lincoln County, WV on December 27, 1931 to the late Ray Everett and May Hughes Oxley. Mr. Oxley served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired pipe fitter and a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Henderson, NC. In addition to his wife, Mr. Oxley is survived by his daughter, Denise O. McGhee of Clarksville; son Harold Keith Oxley of Graham, NC; brother Freer Oxley of Charleston, WV and sister Lesta May Knukles also of Charleston. He also is survived by seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA with burial to follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Reverend L. T. Harris will be officiating.
