It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Belinda "Dale" Anderson Puryear; cherished wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, and beloved friend, who passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025.
Belinda was born on June 25th, 1969, and was a lifelong resident of South Boston. She was a dedicated homemaker who enriched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and boundless creativity.
Belinda is survived by her beloved husband of 19 years, Mitchell Puryear. She leaves behind her loving father, Archie Anderson, and his wife Judith, also of South Boston. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Laura Galyean (Nick Markhardt) of Simpsonville, SC, and her stepdaughter, Virginia VanOrman of Chesterfield, VA.
Belinda was the cherished sister of Barbara Newby and her husband Charles, and the adored grandmother of Lily, Koda, Paisley, and Landon. She will also be missed by her step-grandchildren, Patrick, Ciera, Austin, Tanner, and Mikey, as well as her dear nephew Zack Jackson and niece Kassiti Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Conner Anderson; brother, Mark Anderson; and her beloved grandson, Logan Galyean.
Belinda was a proud graduate of Halifax County High School. Beyond her role as a homemaker, she found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and community activities. A treasured member of the Trinity Congregation Holiness Church, Belinda cherished her church family dearly. She was an avid fishing enthusiast and was known for her exceptional crafting abilities. Celebrated as a "phenomenal cook," she found immense joy in gathering family and friends around her table. Her greatest delight came from spending time with her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, creating memories filled with love and laughter.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Belinda’s life, with arrangements provided by Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. Belinda's family will have Celebration of her Life on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 3pm at Trinity Congregational Holiness Church with visitation one hour prior.
Belinda's enduring spirit, compassionate nature, and infectious joy will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who knew and loved Belinda carry forward her legacy of kindness and warmth.
Belinda will be dearly missed and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
