Betty Anne Loftis

Betty Anne Loftis, a resident of Richmond, Virginia, and formerly Halifax County, VA, passed away on December 12th, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on August 2nd, 1935, Betty was the daughter of the late James Melvin Loftis Sr. and Belva Marie Loftis.

Betty was a proud member of the first graduating class of Halifax County High School in 1954. She had a fulfilling career as an analyst with SunTrust Bank. Outside of her professional life, Betty was a woman of diverse interests and boundless curiosity. An avid reader, she could often be found devouring the Richmond Times-Dispatch cover to cover, She had a love for sports that was matched only by her passion for shopping, cooking, and decorating her apartment.

Betty is survived by a brother, Donald Loftis (Sandra) of Laurel Fork, VA; sisters, Bernice L. Arrowood of South Hill, VA & Mary Hawker of Atlanta, GA; nieces, Jennifer Clement of N.C. & Rhonda Hawker Hollison (Michael) of Park City, Utah; 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Melvin Loftis, Jr and a brother-in-law, William Arrowood.

A Memorial Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
