Betty Lorene Cole Long Wade

Mrs. Betty Lorene Cole Long Wade of Alton passed away on December 9, 2016 at the age of 76. She was born on June 25, 1940 the daughter of Stonewall Jackson Cole and Betty Griffin Cole. Betty was a retired caregiver at Berry Hill Health and Rehab and was a member of Shelby Freewill Baptist Church. She loved everyone, especially her family and loved cooking. Mrs. Wade is survived by two sons, W.J. Long, Jr. and wife, Stacey of Alton, VA and Kenny Lee Long and wife, Debbie of Shelby, NC; three grandsons, Kaleb Long and fiancé, Betty Rose of Alton, VA, Kyle Long and fiancé, Lauren Sizemore of Alton, VA, and Gage Long of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Nannie Sue Chappell and husband, Pete of Halifax, VA and Mae Ferrell and husband, Morton of Halifax, VA; three brothers, Robert Cole and wife, Frances of Cluster Springs, VA, James Cole and wife, Erselle of Cluster Springs, VA, and Junior Cole and wife, Linda of South Boston; very special nephew and niece, Allen and Wanda Murray of Cluster Springs, VA; and a very special friend, Nellie Snead of Scottsburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Long, her parents, a sister, Hazel Watts, and a nephew, Jimmie Cole. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with the Reverend Norman Talley and the Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in the church cemetery beside her husband, Jeff Long. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
