Bonnie Mills Shotwell of Alton passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born in Halifax County on March 23, 1944 to the late William Billy Mills and the late Louise Chappell Mills. Their guiding presence played a pivotal role in shaping the kind-hearted woman Bonnie became, and now they are joyfully reunited. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Ray Shotwell.

Growing up in a close-knit family, Bonnie learned early the values of compassion and resilience, which she carried throughout her life. Bonnie's life was a testament to perseverance and love. She remained dedicated to her family, friends, and community, always extending a helping hand and a kind word. Her warm smile and open heart left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church and loved all her church family.

In addition to her husband, Ray, she is survived by a granddaughter, Krystle Shelton (Davy); great grandchildren, Taylor Evans, Hailey Shelton, Skyler Shelton and Brayson Shelton; step son, Tommy Shotwell (Tammy); sister, Ann Marie Spangler; brothers, Kent Mills (Crystal) and Bert Mills (Ann) and numerous friends and family.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Otis Clifton Landrum, Jr; daughter, Lisa Landrum; grandson, Michael Scott Evans; brothers, Barry Mills, Dale Mills and Reverend Dib Mills.

Services will be held at a later date at Ephesus Baptist Church.

Arrangements for Bonnie Mills Shotwell have been entrusted to Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, 115 Main Street, South Boston, VA.
