Carolyn Glasscock Winstead

Buffalo Junction, VA – Carolyn Winstead, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25th, 2026, just three days shy of her 82nd birthday. Carolyn was born on September 28th, 1944, in Boydton, Virginia, where she spent a lifetime serving her community with endless compassion and warmth.

A 1964 graduate of Bluestone High School, Carolyn Winstead dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working as a sitter and nurse for the elderly. Her calling was not only a career but also a testament to her loving and nurturing spirit.

Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Ronnie Winstead (Jennifer) and Tony Deal (Judy). She also leaves behind a legacy continued by her eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the precious memories they created with her. Her sisters, Ann Waskey and Carrie Lee Haley, survive her, remembering her as a pillar of strength and kindness.

Carolyn is reunited with those who preceded her in death: her beloved husband, Marcellus Dodson Winstead; her cherished daughter, Priscilla Jordan; her parents, Rufus Howard Glasscock and Myrtle Sue Glasscock; her sister, Alice Tuck; her brothers, Herbert Glasscock and Howard Glasscock, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Samantha Jordan.

A Memorial Service to honor Carolyn's beautiful life will be conducted at Buffalo Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11:00AM with the family receiving friends for Visitation one hour prior. Following the service, a burial will take place in the church cemetery, where she will rest among those she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, Carolyn's family ask that donations be made to the Clarksville Ruritan Club in her memory.

Arrangements are under the thoughtful care of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, who ensure Carolyn's life and legacy are celebrated with grace and reverence.

Carolyn Winstead's life was a testament to the power of care, selflessness, and love. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
