Charles Walker Daniel

Charles Walker Daniel, a resident of South Boston, VA, passed away on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at the age of 82. Charles was born on July 5th, 1943, to the late Gaddis Terrell Daniel and Mary Eliza Smith Daniel. He was married to the love of his life for 55 years, Peggy Lloyd Daniel, who survives.

Charles graduated from Halifax County High School in 1962. He dedicated much of his life to his work as a maintenance foreman at CSX Railroad, where he was known for his diligent work ethic and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional pursuits, Charles was a man of varied interests and considerable talents. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in fishing, hunting, and shooting skeet. He was deeply involved in his community, serving as the Skeet Chairman and President of the Halifax County Gun Club, and guiding the Virginia Shooting Sports Association (VSSA) as its president for over 8 years. His contributions earned him a distinguished place in the VSSA Hall of Fame. Charles was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association, advocating for responsible firearms use and enjoying the camaraderie it offered.

Charles had a profound love for music, and this passion resonated in his participation with his church choir at Southside Baptist Church, where he shared his voice and faith. He held a deep reverence for Native American artifacts, reflecting his appreciation for history and cultural heritage.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Stephanie Daniel (Rodney); sister, Jean Harville of Danville, VA; his granddogs, Henry and Walter; and numerous cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 PM until 2 PM, at the church.
