Charles Marion Hoover Sr.

Charles Marion Hoover Sr. passed away on January 28, 2026. Born on June 29, 1947. He was the son of the late Fred and Rachel Hoover. Charlie spent time in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Smithfield, Virginia before eventually settling in Clarksville, Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army, served in Vietnam and had many dedicated years of service to Smithfield Ham and Products as a plant manager. Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 38 years, Charlotte Sue Hoover.

He is survived by his children Heather Hoover Holt, Charles "Chad" Marion Hoover Jr. (Kristen) and his step-daughters Cindy Samuel (Denny), Pamela Williams (Larry), Tracie Nickell (Shane). He is also survived by his three grandchildren Torey-Bates Samuel Brashears, Madison Amos, and Tanner Holt. Great Grandchildren Memphis and Maverick LaMotte, as well as his niece, Vicki Guthrie (Steve). He leaves behind his three cats, Scotty, CC, and Gray Girl, whom he loved dearly.

The family will have a private ceremony. Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
