Christopher George Vaganos, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19th, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on November 25th, 1934, in the charming town of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, Chris lived a life marked by dedication, curiosity, and love.

Chris touched the lives of many through his work as a high school teacher. His passion for mathematics and astronomy wasn't just confined to the classroom; he was an inspiration to students and colleagues, awakening a sense of wonder and discovery in those around him. He carried his knowledge with humility and imparted it generously.

A proud Navy veteran, Chris’s service to his country instilled in him discipline and a sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. His professional career as an educator was complemented by his intelligent and quirky sense of humor, which brought much laughter and joy to his loved ones. Those who knew him remember his gentle soul and the contagious way he loved to laugh.

Chris had a profound love for his beloved wife, Kimlyn Vaganos, with whom he shared both his personal and professional life as they taught together. Her passing preceded his, leaving a space in his heart that he filled with memories and quiet adoration.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Chirona Penny, and her husband Art, along with his brother-in-law, Don Wilcox. Chris also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews who cherished their ‘Uncle Chris’ along with his beloved feline companions, Tiffin, Willow, and Cuddles.

His journey through life was shared with his five sisters—Catherine Root, Georgia Leach, Vicky McCarthy, Rita Beck, and Ellen Wilcox—who all predeceased him and no doubt welcomed him warmly to his eternal rest. Chris is also preceded in death by his parents, Costas Constantis Vaganos and Elpinike Samarakis Vaganos.

Chris leaves behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and an unyielding work ethic. The indelible impact he had on his students, family, friends, and community will be long remembered.

Arrangements are being thoughtfully managed by Brooks-Lyon Funeral Home. In memory of Chris, and in celebration of his spirited life, contributions to astronomy education initiatives can be made in his honor, instructions on how to donate can be found at https://friendsoftheplanetarium.org/Donate.  His spirit will forever be written among the stars he so dearly loved.
