Clara Christine Scholtz Watkins

Clara Christine Scholtz Watkins, 87, passed away January 10, 2012 at McGuire Veterans Hospital. The daughter of Daniel and Clara VanLoenen Scholtz, Clara was born October 24, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a graduate of Baybridge High School and a World War II veteran serving her country with the U.S. Marine Corp. Clara worked through the Smithsonian on the "Poor People's Campaign" and was a member of the National Speleological Society. A retired photographer and a "lifelong" student, Clara volunteered for Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers and Healthcare on the Square. Clara is survived by her daughters, Laura Jane Watkins of Clarksville, Linda Marie Watkins and her husband, Ron Moore of Boydton, Jean Louise Watkins of Indiana; and son, Robert Allen Watkins and his wife, Joan of Nokesville. Eight grandchildren and one great grandson also survive. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Madeline's House, P.O.
