Mr. Clarence Aubrey Duffer, age 70, of 1193 Ponderosa Road, South Boston, VA, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Clover, VA on August 29, 1943 to the late Clarence Duffer and the late Myrtle Irene Dunaway Duffer and was married to Carolyn Comer Duffer. Mr. Duffer was a retired production manager for BHK of America. He was previously employed as production manager for Daystrom Furniture and was also former owner/operator of Die Kajute Restaurant. He was a member of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the church choir, a member of Hyco Road Ruritan Club where he received the 2013 Tom Downey Award, a member of American Legion Post 8 and VFW Post 8243, former youth basketball coach and Dixie Youth baseball coach, and was the drummer/singer in the Twilighters Band. He was also a Vietnam veteran of the U. S. Army & a avid golfer. In addition to his wife, Carolyn Comer Duffer, he is survived by a son, Kyle Duffer and wife Catherine of South Boston,VA; one daughter, Leslie D. Bohanon of Halifax, VA; one brother, Wayne Duffer and wife Vickie of South Boston, VA; four granddaughters, Nora Bohanon, Nell Bohanon, Ella Duffer, and soon to arrive, Abigail Duffer; one niece, Michelle Duffer; and one nephew, Ernie Walker; and extended family Scott Moser, Chase Moser and Dabo Owen & family. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley McCormick, and a nephew, Bryan Duffer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Neilsen officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday night from 6 until 8 o'clock, and at other times at the home, 1193 Ponderosa Road, South Boston, VA.
