David Wayne "Tiny" Dorthy

David Wayne "Tiny" Dorthy, passed away on July 20th, 2025 at the age of 49. Born on June 14th, 1976 in Durham, NC, David lived a life rich with experiences and relationships that touched the lives of many.

David led a fulfilling career as a truck driver, devoting 26 years to the open road and forming countless friendships along the way. After retiring three years ago, he went on to fulfil his passion of becoming a full time contractor, forming his own company known as Tiny Builders. With an innate talent for building and creating, David's motto seemed to be, "If you could dream it, he could build it." His craftsmanship and creativity knew no bounds, leaving those around him in awe of his abilities. Outside his professional life, David was an avid bass fisherman who not only found joy on the water but also achieved numerous accolades, earning trophies and recognition in magazines. His passion for this sport reflected his patient and adventurous nature, contributing to the vibrant community of fishing enthusiasts who will dearly miss him. He was an exceptional and well-rounded individual, continuously seeking to learn and grow.

David's love for his family was profound. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and was an unwavering pillar of support and warmth. His legacy as a great friend and devoted family member will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Mandy Dorthy; children, Brantley Dorthy & Kailoni Gonzalez; grandchildren, Christopher Steffani & Brooke Dunhardt; sibling, Dawn Weaver (Wayne); nieces & nephews, Justin, Dillon & Abby Weaver and great nephew, Logan Weaver; mother, Linda Sanes Dorthy and mother-in-law, Irene Pacheco.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Malcolm Dorthy and father-in-law, Kenneth Pacheco.

A Celebration of David's life will be held the afternoon of Saturday, July 26th at his home.
