Doyle Edgar Campbell

January 9, 1923 — June 25, 2014

Doyle Edgar Campbell, 91, husband of Helen Poulos Campbell and widower of Garnett Shaver Campbell, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at MeadowView Terrace. He was born January 9, 1923 in Seneca, SC to the late Coke and Mollie Nicholson Campbell. Doyle served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roanoke River Post 8163. A volunteer fireman with the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Campbell was a "jack of all trades", Burlington Industries boiler operator, painter, restaurant owner, cook and farmer, to name a few, and he was well known in the community as a "stew master". Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2pm at Oakhurst Cemetery with the Reverend Jim Moss officiating. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, prior to the service, starting at 1pm. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Mr. Campbell is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Dawn Wilson of Greensboro, NC and Melody and Mike Turner of Gibsonville, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Michael D. and Gail Campbell of Roanoke Rapids, NC, grandchildren, Scott, Christy, Derek, Neal, Melissa, Michael, Jr., Clifford, Joshua, Nikki, Amy and Becky , and 15 great grandchildren. His sisters, Ruth Crooks Woodrow of Seneca, SC and Becky Sluder of Savannah, GA, stepdaughters, Diane Wright Gary of Midlothian and Karen Visnauskas Linda of Long Island, NY and stepson, Michael Visnauskas of Las Vegas, NV also survive. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the VFW or the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department.
