Edward Tynes Hite, Sr., 87, of Clarksville, passed away peacefully at his home on April 15, 2026. He was born on July 14, 1938, in Mecklenburg County to the late Earlie R. Hite, Sr. and Margaret K. Hite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, E. Raymond Hite, Jr.
Edward is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Patricia E. Hite; his son, Eddie Hite (Pamela); his beloved grandson, Joshua Tynes Hite and his fiancée, Morgan Alexandra Hundley; his sister, Kathy Hite Hollar (Mike); his sister-in-law, Lynette Hite; and several nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
After attending Fork Union Military Academy, Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army. He continued his education at Danville Technical Institute and Elon College, reflecting his lifelong love of learning. He went on to build a distinguished 40- year career with Burlington Industries as a Systems Programmer Analyst.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Edward was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Averett Baptist Church and actively shared his faith through his work with the Gideons. He also demonstrated a strong commitment to his community, serving as President of the Jaycees and holding numerous offices within the Ruritan Club. Edward was especially proud to be part of his family’s donation of land that became Buffalo Road Park, a place that continues to serve and bring joy to the community.
In his younger years, Edward enjoyed playing bass in a band, reflecting his lifelong love of music. He found great happiness in supporting his family, particularly in watching his son and grandson play baseball. Above all, he treasured time spent with those he loved. Edward will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his quiet strength, and his unwavering devotion to his family and community. His legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in all who knew him.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held for Ed on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2pm at Oakhurst Cemetery. His family will received friends and loved ones at other times at their home.
