Edward Jenkins E.J. Sizemore

Edward Jenkins E.J. Sizemore, 95, passed away on Saturday August 16, 2014 at Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, VA. He was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on February 21, 1919. E.J. was the son of the late Fred Miles and Edna Hite Sizemore and was a graduate of Clarksville High School in Clarksville, VA. He was blessed to be able to meet and marry the love of his life, Ruth Lucille Jones Sizemore, on November, 23 1941. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Sizemore was preceded in death by older sister Barbara S. Elliot and younger brother, Hillard M. Sizemore. E.J. retired from Central Fidelity Bank, now known as Wells Fargo after 34 long and loyal years. At the time of his retirement, he held the position of Senior Vice President of the Lynchburg Region. He was an avid member of Peakland Baptist Church, a charter member of the Clarksville Ruritan Club, member of Boonsboro Country Club, and a charter member of the VFW Post # 8163. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, as a Radio Operator on the U.S.S. Omaha. E.J. is survived by daughter Lynda Gayle Sizemore Russell and her husband Bill Russell of Lynchburg, VA and son Michael Sizemore and wife Iva S. Sizemore of Clarksville, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Horace and Diane Russell, Leigh Ann Russell and Kendall Woody, Hunter and Janna Russell all of Lynchburg, VA, Shanon Sizemore and Tommy Wilson of Burlington, NC, seven great-grandchildren- TJ, Nicole, Emma Kate, Savannah, Kenzie, Spencer and Caroline, and one great-great-grandchild, Evan James. In addition he will be missed by close friend Betty Moseley and the compassionate staff of Westminster Canterbury. E.J., a true southern gentleman, was known for his passion for golf and his endearing love for all of his golfing buddies. In addition to golf, he held a special spot in his heart for airplanes, taking his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the local Airport to watch the planes take off and land. Life will go on as it always does, time will pass but there will be one more angel that watches over us, guides us, and touches our hearts and souls in our time of need. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 11 am at Peakland Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va with graveside services following at 4pm at Oakhurst Cemetery in Clarksville Va.
