Emmett Woody

John "Emmett" Woody, 75, of North Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra M. Woody; parents, Julian E. and Annie Ruth Woody; sister, Nancy Samples; and brothers, Jimmy, Walter and Everett Woody. He is survived by his daughter, Christie Woody; sister, Alice Satterfield; brother, Charles Woody; and numerous nieces and nephews. Emmett was a veteran of the Virginia National Guard and was retired from the United States Postal Service. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road. There will also be a gathering of family and friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, at Black Walnut Baptist Church, 1061 Black Walnut Church Road, Alton, Va., where a funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Interment Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery.
