George Thomas Owen

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE Mr. George Thomas Owen of Nashville, TN and formerly of Halifax County, VA passed away peacefully at his home. He was born on September 8, 1937 in Cluster Springs to the late Rufus Owen, Jr and the late Sue Thomas Owen. Tom was married for 55 years to Gloria Jeanette Owen, who survives. Tom spent his early years and attended primary school in Halifax County, VA. He then furthered his education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1961. Upon graduation Tom migrated to Fayetteville, TN where he worked for two years as an engineer. He then moved to Nashville, TN and worked in various vocations beginning with the Tennessee Valley Authority. Tom met and married Jeanette Owen in 1966 and they raised three loving children. He served his country in the United States Army and attended Donelson First Baptist Church. Leaving to cherish his memories is his wife, Jeanette; his children, Kelli Jeanette Smith (Ryan), Bryan Thomas Owen (April) and Lori Nicole Owen; granddaughters, Sydney Nicole McCallister, Lauren Elizabeth Smith and Ashby Marie Owen.He will be deeply missed.
