Gertrude Bagbey Coghill, born on October 21, 1937, in Buffalo Junction, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 8, 2025, at the age of 88. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family that will be cherished and remembered.

Gertrude was the devoted wife of Reverend William Hoover Coghill, Sr., with whom she shared 69 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they exemplified a partnership built on mutual respect, unwavering dedication, and a shared commitment to serving God.

A graduate of Oak Hill High School, Class of 1956, Gertrude was more than just a devoted wife and mother. She embraced her role as a homemaker and was a remarkable seamstress and gardener. Her talents in the home were matched only by her deep commitment to her family and community.

As a revered pastor's wife, Gertrude played an instrumental role in encouraging her children, Vanessa Dale Bowen (Mike), Bill Coghill (Linda), Craig Coghill (Ann Marie), and Tammy Coghill, to seek God first in their lives, a testament to her enduring faith and love. She raised them to seek God First.

Gertrude was the cherished grandmother to Dean Bowen (Faith), Brett Bowen (Hope), Jessica Riley (Chris), Nina Bowen, Sean Coghill, Katie Coghill, Paden Coghill, Amanda Comstock (John), and Owen Lloyd. Her legacy continues through her ten great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched with warmth and wisdom.

Gertrude is also survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Beck, who was more a sister than an in-law. Gertrude's life was also marked by the memories of her beloved brothers, Ryland, Floyd, Harvey, Cepheus, and Cleo Bagbey, and sisters, Estelle Sehen and Madeline Parham. The family also remembers her granddaughter, Deanne Bowen, with whom Gertrude is now reunited in eternal peace.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate Gertrude's remarkable life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 4:00 p.m, with Reverend Ian Rigney and Jack Stewart officiating.
