Gladys Owen Daniel

Gladys Owen Daniel, 87, passed away on July 20, 2012.Gladys was born on May 25, 1925 in Halifax County to Charlie Henry Owen and Josephine Farmer. On June 14, 1952 Gladys married Harold Dunnie Daniel. She was a leader at Buffalo Baptist Church for over 30 years. Gladys was an avid sportsperson and played basketball at Woodrow Wilson High School where she graduated in 1942. Her favorite teams were the Duke Blue Devils and the Altanta Braves. Gladys was also a great lover of animals. As a licensed LPN she worked at South Boston General Hospital. Harold, her husband of fifty years, predeceased her in 2002. Gladys is survived by daughters and son-in-law Mary and Robert Tucker of Chase City, and JoAnna Daniel of Nelson, son Sam Daniel and Greg Davis, of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her sister Frances Stinespring of Hot Springs, VA, grandson, Al and Kelly Tuck of New Castle, PA, and step Granddaughter Beth and David Pulliam of Danville. Two great grandsons, Tristan and Trey Tuck and three step-great granddaughters also survive. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the residence at 5320 Whitehouse Road in Nelson. Rev. Jane Lyon and Rev. Chris Kiser will lead the service. Visitation will be held at the residence at 2:00 p.m. immediately before the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Lake Country SPCA, P. O. 14, Clarksville, VA 23927.
