SOUTH BOSTON Harrison Miles Conner, Sr. of South Boston, VA passed away at his home on March 23, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born in Halifax County on September 1, 1936, the son of the late Easley Belt Conner and Etta Sue Long Conner. He was a well-known contractor until retirement. He served as a military policeman in the army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. He attended Glenwood United Methodist Church. Mr. Conner is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Martin Conner; his daughter Kelly Conner Thomas and husband Shane Thomas; his three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Moorefield Cole and husband Arthur Cole, Audrey McKay Conner and Paden Daniel Conner; and his two great-grandchildren, Maverick Conner Cole and Carmen Reese Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Conner; his sister Alleyne Conner Bagby, and his dear son Harrison Miles Conner, Jr. Harrison was always a lover of ball. He coached a women and a men’s travel softball team. He also coached Dixie and Babe Ruth teams. He was a big part of Cluster Springs baseball fields, formally known as Conner Fields. He spent a good part of his life at those fields. He prepared them every day for play for the upcoming night. He loved the youth of his community and stayed with the program at Cluster Springs until he was no longer able to do so. To put it simply, as a husband, father, and papa, he was the best. The family would like to thank Linda Martin and Valrie Loftis for the special care they provided over the past several months. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery.
