Helen Moiser Newton

Helen Moiser Newton, 77, widow of James Alfred Newton, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Helen was born in St. Louis, MO on June 26, 1937 to the late Elbert James and Hazel Launa Cook Moiser. She was a graduate of Central High School and became a homemaker when she and James were married on February 24, 1958 . Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Nelson Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Nelson Baptist Church. Mrs. Newton is survived by her daughters, Kathy Bradley of Hopewell and Lori Newton of Nelson, son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Lorraine Newton of Nelson, and son-in-law, James Bradley, Jr. of Richmond. Her grandchildren, Nicole Bradley, Michael Bradley, and Tommy Lee Newton also survive. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
