Henry (Hank) Deloss Gardner, Jr., 90, of Buffalo Junction passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015. Henry was born on February 10, 1925 in Clinton, NY to Henry Deloss and Evaline Gile Gardner. He is survived by his wife Frances Howell Gardner, daughter and son-in-law Betsy and John Wiley of Culpeper, VA and his sister Marjorie Williams of Waterville, NY; grandchildren Richard Blaine (Amy), Deborah Binney (Steve), Ronald Blaine (Heather), John Wiley, Jr., Lorri Walsh (Tom), eight greatgrandchildren; step-son David A. Howell, step-grandchildren Jordan Howell, David Howell, Jr., Zachary Howell, Grace Howell and Sam Howell and his special friend Chris Howell Pennington. He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia F. Gardner, son Henry Deloss Gardner, III and step-son Michael Howell. Hank spent three years in the Navy in WW II and received his B. S. from Syracuse University and his Masters Degree from American University. He worked for the Arlington County, VA public school system for 42 years. First as a teacher of children with special needs and as Assistant Superintendent of Personnel. He retired in 1998. He spent his retirement tending to his roses, taking care of his dogs, tutoring children with special needs, reading and learning.
