Ida Gray Trent Williamson, a beloved mother, nurse, and community pillar, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the blessed age of 100. Born on March 3, 1925, in Halifax County, Virginia, Ida was a resident of the Calvary community where she lived a life full of grace, compassion, and dedication.
Gray was the cherished daughter of the late Harry Pleasant Trent and Susan Wall Trent. She was also preceded in death by her devoted spouse, George Wiley Williamson. Gray's legacy lives on through her beloved daughter, Linda W. Zuniga of Alton, VA, who carries forward her mother's warmth and resilience.
A proud graduate of Volens High School, Gray furthered her education at the LPN School at Halifax Regional Hospital, embarking on a career in nursing. Her dedication to the well-being and care of others was evident in every role she took on. Known for her nurturing spirit and tireless work ethic, Gray's life was a testament to her favorite phrase - "can't you find something to do?" – a gentle and humorous reminder of the value of diligence and purpose.
In addition to her career in healthcare, Gray was known as "Mama Gray" and was the matriarch of the renowned bed and breakfast "Breezy Oaks" in the Calvary community. Her innate hospitality and attention to detail created a welcoming haven for guests from near and far.
Gray touched the lives of many throughout her years, leaving an indelible mark on her community. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those fortunate to have known her.
She is survived by her son, Gary Wayne Williamson (Carolyn); her daughter, Linda Williamson Zuniga; grandson, Gary Wayne Williamson, Jr (Erika); granddaughters, Callie and Emma Williamson; brother, Marvis Trent (Charlotte); many nieces & nephews; and beloved extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 8 brothers & sisters and her loving companion, Smokey.
A Celebration of her life will be held later in the spring.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Calvary UMC, 1072 Calvary Road, Alton, VA 24520 for the food pantry.
