Iva Conley Baker of the Alton, Virginia community, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born in West Virginia on May 11, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Sidney Conley and Norma Adams Conley. Iva was predeceased by her husband, James Baker.
Iva's life was a testament to her dedication, hard work, and deep love for her family. She found great pride and purpose in her career as a seamstress at Tultex, where her skilled hands and meticulous attention to detail touched many lives. Beyond her professional achievements, Iva was known for her nurturing nature and unwavering commitment to her family, spending countless joyful hours with her loved ones and creating memories that will be cherished forever. She was a dedicated member of Black Walnut Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health failed.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Baker; grandchildren, Michelle Milstead (Guy, IV), Aaron Baker and Cristina Baker; great grandchildren, Jasmine Milstead, Marissa Anderson, Jaxton Sites, Olivia Milstead, Guy Mistead V and Toby Bomar; siblings, Sadie DeNitto and Raymond Conley and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Baker; great granddaughter, Cynthia Rose Milstead and 4 siblings.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
