James Harold Collie

James Harold Collie, 81, widower of Gladys Jones Collie, died Friday, June 19, 2009 in South Boston. Harold was a member of Public Fork Christian Church and was a retired farmer. He also drove a school bus for over 15 years for Mecklenburg Academy and Fuqua Schools. He is survived by daughters & son in law Dale Love of South Boston, Glenna & Bill Crews of Saxe, Phyllis Smiley, Paige Collie of Clarksville and Christy Whirley of Red Oak; daughter in law Pearl Collie of Red Oak; sisters Lucille Crowder of Richmond, Estelle Royster of Drakes Branch & Cecil Collier of Amelia; brother Clarence Collie of Randolph; 18 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his son J.H. Collie, Jr. Funeral services will be held Monday 3 PM at Public Fork Christian Church. Officiating will be Denis Fritz & Billy Smithwick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Sunday night 7-9 PM.
