James David “Jim” Mynster, 71, husband of Dorothy “Dottie” Marshall Mynster, passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at his home.He was born August 11, 1944 in Steubenville, OH to the late Marsden and Mary Agnes McNealy Mynster.Jim served his country during the Gulf War as a Chief Engineer with the Navy.Jim was a flight instructor, an enthusiastic fisherman, he volunteered with the Virginia Beach Police Department and loved golf.A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Wednesday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.In addition to his wife, Mr. Mynster is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Marshall; his son, Dano Grimes both of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Andrew Gaskins and Anna Gaskins; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Gaskins.His brother, Fred Mynster and his wife Joan; sisters, Mary Risler and Dixie Cristie; a sister-in-law, Peggy Valentine; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Pat Mynster and brother-in-law, Kay Valentine.The family will receive friends at all other times at their home.
