James Ray Nelson

OXFORD, NC James "Ray" Nelson of Oxford, NC died on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the age of 56.Ray was born in Person Co., NC on December 11, 1958 to Bessie Humphries Nelson and to the late James Raymond Nelson.He was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist Church.Ray loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.He loved being outdoors harvesting timber for his company, Nelson Logging. Ray loved teaching his children and employees how to solve any problems that should arise with ease and understanding. Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie L. Nelson of Oxford, NC; his mother, Bessie H. Nelson of Oxford, NC; his two sons James "Ray" Nelson,II and his wife Jennifer of Oxford, NC, and Jeremy Ryan Nelson and his wife Katherine of Oxford, NC; his daughter, Jillian Nelson Short and her husband, James of South Boston, VA; sisters, Betty Seate of Virgilina, VA and Bonnie Reid of Oxford, NC; brother William "Randy" Nelson of Creedmoor, NC; and his 6 grandchildren, Ava Grace Nelson, James "Trey" Ray Nelson,III, Jeremy Ryan Nelson,II, Kaitlyn Rose Nelson, Kaleigh Ryan Nelson and James "Alan" Short II. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Florence Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend Troy Rust and the Reverend Norman Talley officiating.Burial will follow in the Nelson Family Cemetery.The family will receive friends at Florence Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the home.
