James Edward "Jimmy" Rickman of South Boston, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 15, 1944, in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Emmett and Dorothy Rickman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and son, Ruby Weatherford Rickman and Jamie Rickman.
For over 30 years, James worked diligently in his profession at J.P. Stevens, embodying the values of dedication and perseverance in his career. Those who had the pleasure to work alongside him remember him fondly for his work ethic and integrity.
Outside of his professional life, James was a man of many passions. He shared a love for collecting baseball cards and coins with his son, an activity that bound them together in countless hours of joy and camaraderie. An avid reader, James found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Above all, his greatest delight was spending time with his family, creating precious memories that will live on through generations.
He is survived by a dedicated cousin, Sheila Forlines; nieces, Lynn Heath & family, Brenda Strickland & family and Candice Slayton & family and many other family members.
In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Jean Rickman.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Sean McGuire officiating.
