James Wilson Thompson

South Boston, VA James Wilson Thompson, husband of Rebecca Short Thompson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at the age of 83. He was born in Halifax County on May 16, 1936, to the late Clarence and Mattie Moore Thompson. James was a United State Army veteran. He was a retired truck driver, having driven for various companies throughout his career, such as Epes, Crewe, H.G. Glasscock and J.P. Taylor. James was also an avid race fan. In addition to his wife, “Becky”, James is survived by a son, Randall Thompson of Norfolk, VA; daughter, Barbara Elliott of Bullock, NC; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lowery and a son, Bobby Williams. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 2 P.M. in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Johnny Yount will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 – 9 P.M. and at all other times at the home of Barbara Elliott.
