James Woodrow Wilson

VIRGILINA, VA Mr. James Woodrow Wilson, Jr. passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 74.Born in Halifax County on August 11, 1943, he was the son of the late James Woodrow Wilson, Sr. and the late Flossie Elliotte Wilson and was married to Patricia Averett Wilson. James was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and a graduate of Halifax County High School, class of 1961. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and farming. He was employed as a sheet metal mechanic. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; a son, David Wilson and wife, Doris of Virgilina; grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Heather Wilson and Cody Wilson; great grandchildren, Emmett Womack and Jaden Evans; brothers, Henry Lee Wilson of Scottsburg and Larry Elliotte Wilson of Pocahontas, VA.; and sister in law, Judy Wilson. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Waylon Watkins Wilson. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 3:00 PM at North Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends on Saturday, one hour prior to the service, 2:00-3:00 PM at North Fork Baptist Church and other times the home, 3032 Red Bank Road, Virgilina, VA. There will be a reception with light refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church following the service.
