James Allen Wilkerson

VIRGILINA - Mr. James Allen Wilkerson of Virgilina, VA passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the age of 74. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on November 1, 1942 the son of the late George Thomas Wilkerson and the late Mabel Daniel Wilkerson. A 1962 graduate of Halifax High School, James was a member of Union Christian Church, a member of Woodmen of the World, and was a retired store clerk at Virgilina Grocery. He loved his family, his dog, Molly, and going to races and the fair. Mr. Wilkerson is survived by a sister, Selma “Patsy” W. Gayle of Virgilina; a brother, Willie Thurman Wilkerson of Portsmouth, VA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Wilkerson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon an hour prior to the service.
