Janet Faye Barker Clark, a beloved mother, community member, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on September 28, 1938, in Halifax County, she was daughter of the late Claude Lee Barker and Mary Lizzie Brown Barker. Faye was preceded in death by her devoted husband, George Thomas Clark.
A dedicated professional, Faye worked for many years as a human resource manager at Burlington Industries, where she left an indelible mark through her commitment to her colleagues and her exceptional ability to nurture and guide those around her.
Janet Faye's presence was a cornerstone in her community, particularly through her involvement with her church at Ash Avenue Baptist Church and her deep commitment to charitable works such as Operation Christmas Child. As a proud member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), she inspired many with her leadership and grace. Her passions extended beyond work and service; she had a profound love for gardening, the outdoors, and collecting antiques, pursuits that brought her immense joy throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Robin Clark Guthrie (Tony), and George T. "Tommy" Clark; grandson, Lewis Guthrie and sister, Fleetwood "Fleetie" A.B. Hass.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Pamela Faye Guthrie, Joshua B. Guthrie, William Guthrie and Joseph Martin Guthrie; brothers, Marvin T. Barker & Ralph Lee Barker.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone who has been a source of support during this time especially, Kathryn Chappelle, Rhonda Dyer, Ann Spangler and Edna Fields. They would like to thank the family of Rosser Gough for their love & support over the years . Janet Faye's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her warm spirit and generous heart.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 26th at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 25, 2026 from 7:00 to 8:30 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in Faye's memory to Ash Avenue Baptist Church,, 900 Ash Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592 or the Dan River Baptist Church Association, P.O. Box 885, Halifax, VA 24558.
