Jenny McGregor Cooper, daughter of the late Walter and Myrtle McGregor of Java, Va.; wife of the late William E. (Bill) Cooper Sr.; mother of the late William E (Worth) Cooper Jr and David R (Ron) Cooper Sr, passed away on August 6, 2025 in Pensacola, FLA. at VITAS Hospice of NW Florida. She passed on the 76th anniversary of her marriage to Bill. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth McCracken of Winston Salem, NC and two brothers Billy McGregor of Java, Va & John McGregor of Blairs, Va. She was predeceased by sisters Nellie Dawson, Rachel Adams, Ruby Daniel; brothers W.C. McGregor and Sterling McGregor. She leaves behind four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She touched the lives of many during her 94 years of life, from her time with Downtown Esso/Exxon in South Boston, VA and as a Magistrate for Halifax County, VA. She demonstrated her “country” upbringing by shining as a 20 gauge skeet shooting champion – winning numerous awards for her skills. She was “MeMa” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. During COVID (2020) she moved to Pensacola, Fl and quickly became “Grandma Jenny” to the many staff personnel at Elmcroft/Sodalis Assisted Living Facility of Pensacola. Their care and concern made her feel “at home.” She became the “go to” person at Sodalis for assisting with flower gardening and put quite a bit of time trying to establish a flower/vegetable garden during her time there. May all that have seen her love and care remember her with fond memories. Special thanks go to the nurses and staff of the VITAS in-patient facility at West Florida Hospital in helping complete her journey!
