Jerome "Corky" Cortland Sterns Jr., a cherished resident of South Boston, passed away on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born on August 20th, 1932, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, and was the beloved son of the late Jerome Cortland Sterns Sr. and Elizabeth Tate Sterns. He is survived by his wife, Judith Groscost Sterns.
Corky proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. After his honorable discharge, he embarked on a fruitful career in information services. As one of the original team members to open the Westinghouse plant in South Boston, he excelled as a manager whose leadership and dedication endeared him to colleagues and clients alike. An avid sports enthusiast, Corky's heart beat proudly for the St. Louis Cardinals. His passion for sports was rivaled only by his love for golf, and he was known to enjoy many peaceful afternoons on the golf course. A man of refined tastes, Corky had a profound appreciation for Dixie Land jazz music and often found joy and solace in its melodies.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Tracey Sterns Devin, Christopher Alan Sterns and Jennifer Sterns Landreneau; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Hugh Terrence "Terry" Sterns.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. The family will receive family and friends at Berry Hill Mansion Library from 1 PM until 4 PM on Wednesday following the service.
