Jerry Thomas Short

Jerry Thomas Short, 68, of Nathalie, Virginia, passed peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Virginia on January 22, 1958, Jerry was a cherished son of the late Russell Franklin Short Sr. and Annie Virginia Short. He was married to Pamela Brizendine Short, who survives.

Jerry grew up with a strong love for the outdoors, which he carried through his life. Known for his passion for fishing, Jerry could often be found by the water, rod in hand, embracing the tranquil beauty of nature. A man of many talents, Jerry possessed an innate ability to work on anything with a motor. Equally enthusiastic about working with his hands, he found great joy in keeping his surroundings neat and pristine; his lawn was always impeccably maintained, a testament to his love for cutting grass and maintaining order.

Horse riding and riding his golf cart were among his favorite pastimes. Jerry found freedom and adventure in those moments, embracing each ride with enthusiasm and joy. Jerry's life was one marked by simple pleasures, and he was steadfast in his commitment to keeping things clean and orderly. His legacy is one of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering appreciation for life's quiet moments.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; grandson, Jax Newbill; siblings, Teresa Martin, Kelly Wayne Short, Audrey Short (Terri Roach), Phyllis Lindley (Russ), Carolyn Riddle (Ray Tuck), Cathy Spangler (Frankie) and Ann Spangler; sister-in-law, Shirley Short; and dear friend, Joshua Napier, who would call Jerry "pops".

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Brian Short and Bridget Short and a brother Frank Short.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Millstone with Reverend Barry Fero officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1 PM until 2 PM, at the church.
