Jimmie Steven Carnes Sr., a cherished resident of Chase City, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on April 26th, 1950, in the heart of Virginia, Jimmie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family and the simple joys of life.
Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Sharon H. Carnes. Their enduring love stands as testament to a remarkable partnership that spanned over five decades. He leaves behind his sons, Jimmie Steven Carnes Jr. (Dee) and Byrt Carnes (Callie), and his daughter-in-law, Melanie Carnes. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Steven Garrett Carnes and Clint Austin Carnes, who were a constant source of pride and joy.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie C. Carnes, his mother, Annie Davis Carnes, his son, Christopher Neal Carnes, and his grandson, Nathaniel Hunter Carnes. Their memories stayed close to his heart throughout his life.
Jimmie was a man of simple pleasures, finding great joy in hunting, fishing, and the camaraderie these activities brought. He was equally passionate about his restored classic car, which he proudly showcased at cruise-ins, sharing stories and laughter with fellow enthusiasts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, VA, on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Prior to the celebration, a visitation will be held at the same venue from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, providing an opportunity for friends and family to share memories and offer condolences.
