Joan Pittard

Joan Bowden Pittard, born January 10, 1948, was the daughter of the late Johnnie W. Bowden, Sr. and Barbara H. Fox. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ralph Monroe Pittard, Jr. She was also predeceased by one brother, Johnny W. Bowden, Jr; one niece, Lisa C. Bowden; and one great-nephew, Christopher Bowden.

Joan is survived by one sister, Phyllis B. Slonaker (David); nephews, John W. Bowden III and Joseph A. Bowden; nieces, Holly E. Schnell (Bob) and Kara E. Bowden; three great-nephews and two great-nieces. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dyan Pittard Willis (Bill); niece, Kit Willis Rutherford (Jay) and children; nephew, Tyler M. Willis (Jennifer) and children. Not to be forgotten is Bentley Powell, who was very special to Joan. Joan was a member of Averett Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude, Lake Country SPCA, or the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Jimmy Garland officiating.

Services are entrusted to Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville, Virginia.
