John W. Markle

BOYDTON, VA. After a three year battle with cancer, John W. Markle of Boydton, VA passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the age of 59.He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 13, 1957 to the late Frances Carrico Markle and the late Gilmer Ellsworth Markle.John was a grocery manager and a semi-professional bass fisherman. His true loves were his family and fishing. He was president of the Kerr Lake Bassmasters in Clarksville, VA and the Woodbridge Bass Club in Northern VA. Mr. Markle is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Berg Markle, daughter, Jessica Markle, son, Clayton Markle, stepdaughter, Shannon Watson, stepson, Brian Doty and grandchildren, Rebecca, Brian Jr., Reagan, Benjamin, Victoria and Kayleigh.Also surviving are his sister, Linda Funk and her husband, Don, sister in law, Wendy Marzloff, and nieces and nephews, Joann, Mike, Joe, Josh, Sam and Alexa. A memorial service for John Markle will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating.
