John William Pool

Mr. John William Pool of South Boston, VA, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born in Halifax County, VA on August 11, 1928. He was married to Gladys Reaves Pool.Mr. Pool was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and the Cluster Springs Ruritan Club, with 45 years of perfect attendance.John loved music, especially bluegrass and hymns; he enjoyed hunting and playing softball for the Ruritan club. He was a dedicated employee for Burlington Industries for 43 years. He dearly loved his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Reaves Pool; a daughter, Debra Dyer and husband, Elvin; a son, Dale Pool and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Katina Epps and husband, Tom; Fallon Hudson and husband, John; Melanie Hastings and husband, Matt; great-grandchildren, Taylor Gunn, Natalie Epps, Piper Epps and Tyler Hudson; sister, Ruth Ragans and several nieces and nephews.John was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Mr. John William Pool will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.
