Johnny Lindsey Shriver Jr.

Johnny Lindsey Shriver Jr., a lifelong resident of Clarksville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20th, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on January 27th, 1945, Johnny was known for his dedication to his work, love for music, and commitment to his family and community.

Johnny's life was marked by resilience and determination. After losing his father, Johnny Lindsey Shriver Sr., in World War II, Johnny set aside his own educational pursuits after the 6th grade to help support his family. Despite his limited formal education, he found fulfillment and purpose in his work, dedicating 30 years as a Maintenance Crew Worker with VDOT. Johnny was widely respected for his tireless work ethic and reliability.

Outside of work, Johnny found joy in the soulful tunes of bluegrass and old country music. It was in these melodies that he often found solace and happiness. Johnny's spirit was as vibrant and comforting as the songs he loved, and his legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Johnny is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Linda Stephens Shriver, whose unwavering support and love were the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind his beloved children, Janice Kay Cifers and spouse William Scott, and Johnny Lindsey Shriver III and spouse Sherry, who will cherish the values and wisdom he imparted. Johnny was a proud grandfather to Cameron, Braydon, and Jacob, who will forever hold his memory close.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Lindsey Shriver Sr. and Bertie Daniels Shriver.

To honor Johnny’s memory, a private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1371, Clarksville, Virginia 23927, an organization that holds a special place in the hearts of Johnny’s family and the community he cherished.
