Joseph Dean Carter

Joseph Dean Carter of Scottsburg, VA passed away Sunday, July 4, 2021, at the age of 61. He was born on February 1, 1960, in Halifax County to the late Joseph Edwin and Mamie Hatcher Carter. Dean worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was noted as quite the character, always keeping those in his presence in laughter. Dean deeply loved his daughters and grandchildren. Dean is survived by daughters, Toni Carter (Michael) of Greensboro, NC and Kelly Richardson (Gary) of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Lacy, Jacob, Lauren, T.J., Caleb and Aubree; sisters, Diane Blalock and Annette Reed and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Hilliard and Jewel Carter and cousins, Duane and Barbara Royal. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church cemetery with the Reverend Joey Tucker officiating.
