Joseph Allen Keeton Sr., a beloved resident of Roxboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Virgilina, VA, on March 19th, 1942, Joseph grew up with a deep appreciation for hard work and family values.
Affectionately known as a "Jack of all Trades," Joseph led a life characterized by a diligent work ethic and passionate interests. He attended school through the 8th grade and dedicated his professional career to driving trucks, particularly logging trucks. Moreover, he showcased his versatility as a self-employed carpenter and painter, unafraid to tackle any challenge laid before him.
Joseph was a man of strong faith, a characteristic evident in the way he lived his life. He nurtured a profound love for scripture and contributed his musical talent by playing the guitar, both for his church and in a local Bluegrass band. He also cherished the Great Outdoors, finding peace and inspiration in nature's beauty.
Joseph is survived by his loving children: Joseph Allen Keeton Jr.(Lisa) of Buffalo Junction, VA; James Alvin Keeton(Leslie) of Roxboro, NC; Gracie Keeton Casstevens(Dwayne) of Roxboro, NC; Rachel Keeton of Roxboro, NC; and Margaret Keeton Terry(Richard) of Henderson, NC. Cherished sister Maurine Wilbourne of Roxboro, NC, continues to carry forward their family legacy. His legacy lives on through 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his laughter and guidance.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Franklin Keeton and Gracie Elliott Keeton, as well as siblings Melvin Keeton, Ida K. Waldrop, Joyce Keeton, Mary K. Pruitt, Diana Duncan, and Shirley Keeton.
Family and friends are invited to honor Joseph's life at a funeral service to be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery.
