Judy Galyen Williams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and respected member of the Clarksville community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. She was 82 years old.

Born on November 24, 1942 in Caroline County, VA, Judy excelled in academics, graduating as valedictorian from C.T. Smith High School. In the interval between high school and college, she served her country with the CIA in Thailand, before returning home to start a family and raise her son. Judy's thirst for knowledge eventually led her to Virginia Commonwealth University, where, as a working Mom, she graduated at the top of her class in 1984. She built a notable career as an accountant, and worked for Rappahanock Electric Co-op, Beverly Construction and the U.S. Department of Navy.

A woman of diverse talents and passions, Judy had a curiosity for life and the world around her. She was a youth soccer coach, substitute teacher, community and church advocate, avid tennis player, and world traveler. She was a master gardener and member of the Mecklenburg Garden Club. As a voracious reader, Judy cherished her time with her friends in the local book club. She loved the show "Jeopardy!" and never missed an episode or a question. She was the queen of board games, loved music, home-making and cooking, and she was the ultimate hostess.

Judy is survived by Julian "Butch" Williams, her devoted husband of many years, and her family who cherished her deeply. Her legacy continues through her son, Jeff Williams (Shannon) of Bel Air, MD; her cherished sisters Helen Terry of Virginia Beach, VA, Margie Kay of Doswell, VA, Patsy Utley of Ashland, VA, and Paula Pardue of Ashland, VA; her grandchildren, Sydney Williams of Silver Spring, MD, Abigail Williams of Richmond, VA, Evan (Abby) Fitts of Corsicana, TX, Kailee Culoty (William) of Fort Worth, TX;. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Sadie Gayle Galyan, and her sister, Rosemary Myers.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Judy’s life on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Clarksville Presbyterian Church. They invite the community to join them for Visitation on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.

Judy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was a testament to all things good: kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering strength. the impact she leaves behind is boundless and will continue to inspire generations to come.
