Kathleen Wallace Lyons, of Boydton, Virginia passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the age of 85. She was born in Halifax County on October 16, 1940, to the late Otis Nelson Wallace and Catherine Elizabeth Foster Wallace. She was raised in Halifax County and Charlotte County before eventually calling Mecklenburg County her home. Her deep roots in these communities were a testament to her enduring spirit and her cherished role as a neighbor and friend. Kathy is survived by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Daniel Lyons.
A devoted member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Kathy found great joy and solace in her faith. She performed many deeds of kindness, including taking communion to parishioners who were unable to attend Mass themselves. Her compassionate nature and boundless generosity touched the lives of many.
Kathy was a woman of many talents and passions. She enjoyed a fulfilling career at Lake Sleepwear and Eileen’s before retiring. Kathy also sewed professionally at home, crafting garments and tailoring with precision and love. Throughout her life, Kathy exhibited an insatiable curiosity and zest for exploration. She traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states in her lifetime, and continued her adventures for as long as her health allowed. Kathy was also an avid bowler, delighting in the camaraderie and competition at the lanes until no longer possible.
Family was at the center of Kathy's world. She was a nurturing and devoted grandmother, whose ability to explain things with patience and clarity endeared her to her grandchildren. Her loving presence and warm laugh will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by a daughter, Janet Clay of Scottsburg; grandsons, Devin And Shawn Snead; 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Wallace of Lynchburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Tyree Wallace and Herman Wallace.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Burial will be private at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10 at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home from 6 PM until 8 PM and Friday after the burial at 2:00 PM at Tom's house.
