Ms. Kimberly Chafin Harris of 1228 Horseshoe Trail, Alton, VA died Monday, September 24, 2012 at the age of 53. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on July 13, 1959 to the late Walter Kerry Chafin and the late Marie Puryear Chafin. Ms. Harris was a bartender and a waitress for many years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at VCU and also to Dr. Neil Schacht for their special loving care given during her illness. Survivors include one daughter, Starlynn Marie Dunevant of Roxboro, NC; one son, Jonathan Kerry Harris of Roxboro, NC; one sister, Tina Chafin McDowell of Alton, VA; one brother, Mark Kerry Chafin of Kentucky; one grandson, Tyler James Dunevant of Roxboro, NC; niece, Christy McDowell Elliott & husband, Ben of Virgilina, VA; nephew, Chris Keith McDowell & wife, Starr of South Boston, VA; niece, Candice Johnson; special friends, Wayne Hite and Jerry Harris; 6 great nieces and 1 great nephew; many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Cindy Sue Lowery; and one son-in-law, Kevin James Dunevant. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 7:30 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Berry officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until service time on Thursday night and at other times at the home of her sister, Tina McDowell, 1228 Horseshoe Trail, Alton, VA 24520. The family requests that those wishing to give memorials to please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
