Larry Clayborn Tilley

VIRGILINA Mr. Larry Clayborn Tilley, Sr. passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021at the age of 71. Born in North Carolina on August 31, 1949, he was the son of James "Billy" Tilley and Lizzie Meadows. Larry was raised in Rougemont, NC and worked for the City of Durham for 15 plus years before retiring in 2004. He was a lifelong farmer and was very athletic. He loved softball, football and was nicknamed "Skeeter" because of his speed and was a lifelong fan of UNC Tarheels. He is survived by a son, Larry "Clay" Tilley, Jr; grandson, Collin Tilley and wife, Patricia; great granddaughters, Jaycee and Caitlyn Tilley; a great grandson due in December 2021; sisters, Rosa Weaver of Timberlake, NC and Chrissy Acker and husband Ralph; sister-in-law, Linda S. Tilley and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Earl and Danny Tilley and sister, Virginia Jacobs and a granddaughter, Caitlyn Tilley. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at North Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Doug Ballew officiating.
