Lawrence Henry Woosley Sr., a cherished resident of Alton, Virginia passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17th, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born in Halifax County on January 8th, 1945, to the late William and Beatrice Woosley and was predeceased by his loving wife, Catherine Womack Woosley.
He was a beloved figure in his community, known for his extensive knowledge and passion for history, antiques, and old cars. His keen understanding of historical events and artifacts made him a valued resource for historians and enthusiasts alike. As a self-employed professional, he dedicated much of his life to servicing oil burning furnaces.
He is survived by a son, Lawrence Woosley, Jr; granddaughter, Kristan Goldsmith; great granddaughter, Emily Goldsmith; and brother Thomas Woosley. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Barksdale.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Cedar Grove UMC Cemetery with Pastor Harvey Spencer officiating.
