Calvin Lloyd Williamson of Bullock, NC passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born in Granville County on August 29, 1944 to the late Calvin and Mamie Kimball Williamson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Luffman Williamson.
A proud alumnus of NC State, Lloyd graduated with a bachelor's degree and carried the spirit of the Wolfpack through his life. After graduating from NC State, Lloyd joined the US Army Corps of Engineers at John H. Kerr Reservoir in 1967 where he served as a Ranger. Among his duties were patrolling and permitting of a section of Kerr Reservoir, and to assist in the establishment of shoreline boundaries and recreation areas around the Reservoir. He was then drafted to the US Army later that same year where he taught paving and materials at Ft. Belvoir. During his time in the Army, he drove a cab part time in Washington D.C. This was quite a stretch for a country boy from Bullock, NC. In 1969, he returned to the US Army Corps of Engineers at John H. Kerr Reservoir again as a Ranger. He then became the Chief Ranger around 1970. Among his duties were supervising the Rangers, overseeing the water safety programs, and maintaining vehicle and equipment maintenance records. In addition to his regular duties, he took on the responsibility for major campground renovations. In 1990, he was selected as the Assistance Manager of John H. Kerr Reservoir. His duties increased to include the administering of maintenance contracts, drafting of additional contracts, assisting the project manager in developing an annual budget, project safety manager and filling in whenever the manager was unavailable. In 1992, he went to join the Chief's Office in Washington, D.C. where he authored a major operations manual for the US Army Corps of Engineers. In 1994, he became the acting Resource Manager of John H. Kerr Reservoir. In 1995, he was named the joint project manager of Falls Lake in Raleigh, NC and B. Everett Jordon Lake in Durham, N.C. He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers after a very distinguished career.
Outside of his professional life, Lloyd was a passionate and multi-talented individual. He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church where he sang in his church choir and served on numerous committees. Lloyd was also a proud member of the Clarksville Ruritan Club. He was an avid fan of NC State and cherished his time playing softball and golf, spending summers at the lake house, and loved to travel. Above all, Lloyd was a deeply involved father and grandfather, nurturing his family with love and wisdom.
He is survived by his fiance, Wanda Duncan; son, Kyle Spencer Williamson, Sr.; grandchildren, Michael Smith, Kyle Williamson, Jr (Destiney) and Evan Williamson; great grandchildren, Maya Holden, Malakai Holden and Kayden Williamson; sister, Brenda Rae Williamson; brother, Danny Wayne Williamson; and numerous nieces & nephews.
